    Our Hiring Process
    We believe it’s important for you to know where you stand in our hiring process. Below is an outline of the steps we take to make the best hires possible.
    Apply: Submit your resume for one of our job openings.
    Our Talent Team and our partner – Total Quality Consulting (TQC Team) will review your submitted information and will call or email successful applicants for an interview as soon as possible.
    In-Person Interview: After a screening call with TQC, we’ll invite a final number of candidates to our office for an in-person interview or set up a live Zoom meeting with the hiring manager(s).
    If we believe that you have what it takes, we'll make an offer and provide next steps in the hiring process!
    Pre-employment requirements include an employment application, standardized testing, including aptitude or skill-set test, a drug screen, a credit screen and a criminal background check.
     
    ABOUT THIS ROLE:
    The Business Development Manager is responsible for helping the organization achieve its membership growth goals through hands-on business development, community event activities and business-to-business (B2B) sales. Requires a high level of energy, integrity and enthusiasm to provide membership information, promote products and services, and acquire new members. This position includes a blend of in-office and out-of-office assignments. The Business Development Manager will manage a dynamic team of business development specialists. 
     
    ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

    • Responsible for a variety of business development functions including, but not limited to identifying, developing, and maintaining relationships with business partners, prospecting, networking, data mining and meeting with prospective business partners to present information on available credit union services.
    • Consistently meet or exceed sales targets, build lasting client relationships, and effectively promote products/services.
    • Develop and coach staff to ensure established goals are met and the quality of work matches the standards of the department. Develop best practices and effective tactics for prospecting new markets.
    • Create, manage, and maintain book of business by using proven sales skills.
    • Provide strategic recommendations for future growth initiatives based on market trends and sales data.
    • Assist with the creation of the annual business development plan. Responsible for implementation, management and tracking of the plan.
    • Track and analyze monthly productivity reports to measure the achievement of objectives.
    • Schedule, organize and attend on-site visits.
    • Present financial education/services presentations to promote credit union products.
    • Attend various meetings in the community and/or trade associations to develop new business prospects and promote the credit union.
    • Coordinate and attend special events.
    • Manage CRM tool (HubSpot) to track daily business development activities.
    • Create and order business development marketing collateral and communications.
    • Regular and reliable attendance, including punctuality, are essential to achieving organizational excellence.
    SUPPORTING FUNCTIONS:
    • Performs special projects and other responsibilities as assigned.
    • Excellent written and oral communications and cross functional project management skills required.   Must be a self-starter who possesses strong interpersonal skills and enjoys face-to-face, sales interactions.   Must be able to perform to high expectations with little supervision.  Proficiency in computer programs, (e.g. Microsoft Office).
    • Provides back-up to AVP, business and community development and other department personnel, as necessary.

    REQUIRED MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
    Education:
    • High School Diploma or equivalent required. Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, Business or other related business discipline desired. Degree in other disciplines or equivalent experience will be considered.
    Experience: 
    • Minimum 5 years' of experience in business development, sales, or marketing, preferably within the financial services industry or a credit union environment.
    • 3+ years of experience in managing and leading a team, preferably in sales or business development.
    • Proven track record of meeting or exceeding sales targets.
    • Experience in member acquisition, cross-selling financial products, and expanding partnerships.

    OTHER INFORMATION:
    Hours Required: Monday through Friday, generally 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., with some alternate work schedules. Hours may fluctuate moderately to accommodate business development activities.
    Travel Requirements: 
    50% local travel required.  Travel during assigned shifts requires ability to operate personal vehicle.  Occasional travel to more remote locations; similar, but not limited to our Fresno and Clovis branches.
